URGENT NOTICE

Dear Residents/Property Owners

RE: Big Bay Residential Estates: Guidelines: Contractors Board.

The following concern has been brought to the attention of the
Board of Trustees and Estate Management by an architect residing
in the Estate:

“The example of the Contractors Board allowed in terms of the
Guidelines for erection on site during construction refers.
This board allows for the erf no, owners name, contractor and architect's
details.
Please note if your house has been designed by an architectural technologist
or draughtsman, it is illegal to use the word 'architect' on the board and
the board must be adjusted to read 'Designer.' The word architect can only
be used on these boards where your house has been designed by a professional
architect registered with the South African Council for the Architectural
Profession (SACAP).

Property Owners who are building are urged to ensure that the details on
these boards are correct and not to underestimate the seriousness of the matter.
There are at present several boards in the estate where architectural
technologists are being misrepresented as architects. The said party in
this regard has already submitted sworn affidavits to  SACAP for further
investigation and action.

Where individuals are found guilty of misrepresenting themselves as architects,
this will result in disciplinary action by SACAP and/or criminal charges being
laid with the SAPS.”
